Course Format

The referral course covers all the theory and pool skills needed for the PADI Open Water certification. After the course you are then ready for the Open Water Evaluation Dives which you need to do to complete your PADI Open Water referral course. We keep our courses small, so you get the most out of it, we have a maximum of 4 trainees to 1 instructor. We believe that small groups are key to making sure you learn and have fun.

Knowledge Development

The theory is completed with the help of an Open Water manual and crew pack. This is designed to allow you to study in the comfort of your own home and have materials to refer to later, after your pool sessions we have 2 very informal knowledge review discussions making sure you have understood your open water manual and then you will complete some multiple-choice quizzes and exams. We have an overall pass rate of 99% at Duck and Dive and there will always be instructors on hand to help.

Confined Water Training

The confined water training sessions are completed over five hours pool sessions on a Tuesday morning , 10am to 12.30pm then 1pm till 3pm academics , knowledge reviews and quizzes, Wednesday morning 10am to 12.30pm pool sessions then 1pm till 3pm academics , final exams, referral paperwork and RMV / SAC consumption rates and calculations,

The number of pool sessions required to complete the course can vary for each student but normally five is enough. We can offer more pool time allowing you to learn at your own pace without time constraints.
